Section 4: First - Aid Measures

Description of first aid measures: In case of inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention. In case of skin contact: Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get medical attention if irritation develops or persists. In case of eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, lifting lower and upper eyelids occasionally. Get medical attention immediately. In case of ingestion: Induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cups of milk or water. Get medical attention. Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: Inhalation: Dust is irritating to the respiratory tract. Inhalation of fumes may cause metal fume fever, which is characterized by flu-like symptoms with metallic taste, fever, chills, cough, weakness, chest pain, muscle pain and increased white blood cell count. Eyes: Causes eye irritation. Skin contact: Causes skin irritation. May cause skin discoloration. Ingestion: Causes gastrointestinal irritation with nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. May cause liver and kidney damage. Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptomatically. Show this safety data sheet to a physician or emergency room.

Section 5: Fire - Fighting Measures

Extinguisher media: Suitable extinguisher media: Use any means suitable for extinguishing surrounding fire. Unsuitable extinguishing media: None known. Special hazards arising from the mixture: None known. Advice for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Control parameters: Occupational exposure limits: ACGIH: 0.2 mg/m 3 TWA (fume); 1 mg/m 3 TWA (dusts and mists). NIOSH: as Cu: 1 mg/m 3 TWA (dusts and mists); 0.1 mg/m 3 TWA (fume) dusts as mists as Cu: 100 mg/m 3 IDLH. OSHA: Final PELs: 0.1 mg/m 3 TWA (fume); 1 mg/m 3 TWA (dusts and mists). OSHA: Vacated PELs: 0.1 mg/m 3 TWA (fume, dusts, mists as Cu). Exposure controls: Appropriate engineering controls: Facilities storing or utilizing this material should be equipped with an eyewash facility and a safety shower. Use adequate general or local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentrations below the permissible exposure limits. Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment: Eye/face protection: Use safety glasses. If there is a potential for exposure to particles which could cause eye discomfort, wear chemical goggles. Maintain eye wash fountain and quick-drench facilities in work area. Hand protection: Use chemical resistant gloves. Examples of preferred glove barrier materials include: Butyl rubber, Neoprene, Nitrile/butadiene rubber, Polyethylene, Ethyl vinyl alcohol laminate, polyvinyl alcohol, Polyvinyl chloride. Body protection: Wear impervious protective clothing, including boots, gloves, lab coat, apron or coveralls, as appropriate, to prevent skin contact.
