EYE CONTACT: Causes irritation of the eyes. SKIN CONTACT: Causes slight to mild irritation of the skin. INHALATION: Irritating to skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. INGESTION: Toxicity reduced to the extent that this compound is relatively insoluble. In large amounts may cause vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. CHRONIC HEALTH EFFECTS: Prolonged exposure to hydrolysable fluorine compounds can cause deterioration of bone and tooth structure.

SECTION 4 FIRST AID MEASURES

EYE EXPOSURE: Immediately flush the eyes with copious amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Assure flushing under eyelids. A victim may need assistance in keeping their eyelids open. Get immediate competent medical attention. SKIN EXPOSURE: Wash affected area with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothes if necessary. Seek medical assistance if irritation persists. INHALATION: Remove to fresh air and keep at rest. Closely monitor the victim for signs of respiratory problems, such as difficulty in breathing, coughing, wheezing, or pain. In such cases, seek immediate medical assistance. INGESTION: Seek medical assistance immediately. Keep the victim calm. Give the victim water (only if conscious). Lanthanons can cause delayed blood clotting leading to hemorrhages. Exposure may also lead to sensitivity heat, itching, increased awareness of odor and taste, and liver damage. Fluorides may cause salivation, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain, followed by weakness, tremors, shallow respiration, convulsions, and coma. May cause brain and kidney damage. Chronic fluoride poisoning can cause severe bone changes, loss of weight, anorexia, anemia, and dental defects.
