Exposure to lanthanons may also lead to sensitivity to heat, itching, increased awareness of odor and taste, and liver damage. Oxalates are powerful irritants and corrosive to tissue. They have a caustic effect on mouth, esophagus, and stomach. Readily absorbed, they can cause severe kidney damage.
